INSTRUCTORS

The course is designed to introduce mobile armor types, explain ballistic armor levels and capability, as well as, shine a light on some common misconceptions related to soft and hard armor. In addition to education, students will learn how to deploy different types of mobile armor with handguns and long guns. This will include the use and deployment of both team and individual shields. Students will begin in static positions and later transition to moving and negotiating obstacles while hunting for and identifying threats.

INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS

1. Explain armor levels and common misconceptions related to hard and soft armor

2. Demonstrate different types of mobile armor and explain its strengths and weaknesses

3. Discuss best practices and considerations of armor deployers

4. Provide a brief overview of all the armor products that will be utilized during training (explain the differences in team and individual shields)

5. Introduction to equipment placement and one hand shooting and reloads with handgun and long gun

6. Introduction to basic shooting and reload drills with all mobile armor types

7. Introduce retention drills and explain when to utilized them operationally

8. Introduce turns and movement into live fire drills

9. Introduce movement through doorways and around corners from strong and weak sides

10. Introduce 360 degree movement with live fire drills and shoot/no shoot targets

DAY TO DAY / HOUR TO HOUR AGENDA All course work will be conducted on the range and be completed in one 8 hour training period. Range training blocks will generally be broken down into 45 minute segments partitioned by breaks to cool down and hydrate.

Open to:  Full time sworn Law Enforcement officer- Patrol – SWAT – Jail – Courts – Admin

This is a physical class, please come prepared to sweat & work.
