Ballistics for Law Enforcement

Instructor: Rick McClain, Robert Martin

SSA McLain has been with the FBI since 2008 and was initially assigned to the Little Rock Field Office in Arkansas where he was an Assistant Team Leader on SWAT. In 2016, SSA McLain transferred to the Tactical Training Unit and in 2018 to the Ballistic Research Facility where he serves as the tactical program manager.

EBT Robert Martin joined the FBI in 2011 after completing military service. EBT Martin was initially assigned as a gunsmith to the Defensive Systems Unit prior to joining the Ballistic Research Facility in 2013 as the Test Operations Manager.

Class Description

Ballistics for Law Enforcement is designed to educate law enforcement officers in the basics of terminal ballistics and wounding.  The class discusses performance perceptions and factors related to ammunition selection. Additionally, the class discusses how weapon system's influence ammunition selection.
